Organic semiconductors

SYNOPSIS

Our work in the area of organic semiconductors focuses on metal 7,7,8,8-tetracyanoquinodimethane (MTCNQ) materials. TCNQ is an extremely good electron acceptor and can form complexes with transition metals such as Cu, Ag, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Zn and Cd. These MTCNQs show unique physical, chemical and optical properties. We exploit these properties to create photoactive catalysts, photoactive antimicrobials and sensors.
